'I am the seed' poetry trail

Take in the changing autumn landscape, and enjoy the beautifully illustrated outdoor poetry trail, from the book by Fiona Waters and Frann Preston - Gannon, that will lead you through the grounds of Barrington Court.

Pick up a trail from Visitor reception, that has a map to indicate where the twelve poems are located with in the grounds. Meander to all the locations, taking in the beauty and splendor of autumn as you go. Take inspiration from what you read and see, capture your thoughts in a poetry mandala, then compose your own nature based writing.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

Please call in at visitor reception, to show your membership cards and pick up a copy of the trail.
What to bring and wear
The poetry trail is outdoors, wear clothing suitable for the weather, layers and waterproofs at this time of the year, and comfortable footwear, wellies are advisable if wet.
Accessibility
Some of the poetry board locations are placed on rough grass, which may not be easily accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs or buggies.
