Volunteering with East Devon
Our outdoor volunteers have really varied roles, all of which aim to conserve precious natural environments for people and for wildlife.
Volunteer in the great outdoors
The East Devon team looks after a group of National Trust properties between Axminster and Exmouth. The volunteer rangers could be working as part of a welcome team on one of the Trust beaches, or spending the day improving coastal access on the coast path, with stunning views.
On any given day you might be:
- Helping the ranger team with practical work.
- Improving access along the coast path, cutting vegetation, repairing steps, gates and bridges.
- Woodland management – coppicing and hedgelaying.
- Maintenance of tools and equipment.
Maintaining good relationships with people who share the land.
Where do we work?
The East Devon volunteers look after a number of different areas including coastal areas and countryside around Branscombe, Sidmouth Countryside, Exmouth Countryside, Loughwood Meeting House and Shute Barton.
This means there are a number of different opportunities, including being a countryside ranger, a beach ranger or a guide around one of properties including Shute Barton and Manor Mill (Branscombe).
