Hoathwaite Campsite car park

Leave the car park at the top of the campsite and head down the main track towards the lake. Pass through the gate in the bottom corner of the lower camping field and head left along the lakeshore.

You'll soon pass over a bridge and through a double gate. Continue along the shoreline.

Eventually you will pass through another gate into Coniston Hall Campsite. Continue along the road through the campsite.

Coniston Hall Campsite

At the far end of the campsite you'll see Coniston Hall with it's prominent round chimneys. Approximately 100 yards past the hall leave the road and take the track to your right just after the last barn on the left. Follow this stoney track passing through three sets of gates along the way until you reach a road.

Coniston Hall

Turn right at the road and continue down to the lake shore at Coniston Pier. At the shore turn left along the path behind Coniston Boating Centre.

Coniston Boating Centre

At the end of the path cross the wooden bridge over the stream, go through the gate and follow the path on to the driveway and up to the main road. Cross over the road and turn left along the path and head into the centre of Coniston village.

Turn left at the road junction in the centre of Coniston. The road takes you over the bridge and round to the left. Take the next left (Lake Road) and continue until you reach the point where the road turns 90 degrees left over a bridge.

At this point (i.e. before the bridge) go through the gate to your right. You've already come through this gate from the opposite direction, so simply retrace your steps back to Coniston Hall Campsite, along the shoreline and back through Hoathwaite Campsite to your start point.
