South Bedfordshire Association
The South Bedfordshire Association is an association of National Trust members and volunteers who promote the work of the Trust.
The South Bedfordshire Association’s object is to promote the work of the National Trust by raising funds for them; we have some members who volunteer at properties, but you do not even have to be a member of the NT to join our friendly group, just have an interest in supporting them and the great work they do.
Our Association was founded in 1981, so we recently had an afternoon tea to celebrate 40years! Our members come from Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Luton and the surrounding villages. Through an organised year-long programme of talks, outings and holidays to NT and other properties, we support the work of our local properties, the Chiltern Gateway Centre on Dunstable Downs, the nearby Whipsnade Tree Cathedral, and the Ashridge Estate.
Membership and Meetings
Membership of our group gives you the opportunity to meet other people who have an interest in the National Trust and to take part in the activities and visits organised by the committee. You will be assured of a warm welcome, and membership is only £15 a year. You will receive a regular newsletter and information on our tours and local visits, and throughout the winter we meet at the Salvation Army Hall, Bullpond Lane, Dunstable on the first Monday of the month, at 2pm, where there is plenty of parking, and is near to bus routes. We have an annual lunch in January, and other coffee mornings and social events throughout the year. Non members of SBANTM can also come along to talks and outings, at a slightly increased cost.
