Our bursary is in memory of Caroline Gundle...
One of Caroline’s main loves was visiting National Trust Properties. She was an inspired gardener and really enjoyed the well tended, peaceful and beautiful Trust houses and gardens. When she died the family contacted The National Trust to see if donations after her funeral could be put to good use somehow - preferably with children in mind, her own boys being of primary school age.
A quote from Simon, Caroline's brother:
"To me she was a dear big sister and the picture of smiling faces in the red sailed dinghy could have been lifted from our own family album, in an echo of the idyllic childhood we enjoyed in rural Leicestershire.
Caroline was wife, sister, daughter, mother, nurse and friend and she excelled in all these roles, always finding the time to appreciate and find the good in everyone. Helping children less fortunate than her own would have come naturally to Caroline, and so Brancaster Activity Centre would surely have been dear to her heart.
Giving is a way to remember our dear Caroline as well as helping support a great cause."
