There’s wonder under the gold-flecked canopies of our woodlands. As well as a sanctuary for wildlife, trees clean our air and bring balance to our fragile landscape. Donate today and keep our woodlands breathing

- We look after around 12 million trees across all the places in our care
- A single tree can remove 1 tonne of carbon from our air over 40 years

" A single tree will remove pollutants from the atmosphere and provide a home and for millions of birds, insects and mammals. So just imagine what 20 million new trees could do for the environment, native wildlife and our wellbeing."
The best B&B for animals
Offering, food, protection and shelter, woodlands are a haven for animals big and small. These unique habitats not only help to provide the air we breathe, but they are also home to millions of species of wildlife.
A breath of fresh air
Trees provide nearly one third of the earth’s oxygen and help clean the air of pollution. And the bigger and healthier they are, the more they do for us and the wildlife who make their homes in them.
Inhale. Exhale. Repeat
From blossoming spring to russet autumn, our woodlands are brimming with beauty and nature. Wake up and smell the woods - you may discover inspiration, the odd hedgehog or simply a place that makes you smile.
Cool and collected
Trees lower our air temperature by evaporating water from their leaves and providing shade for us and neighbouring wildlife species. Trees also slow and filter rainwater, improving water quality, and help to prevent flooding.
Our planet’s oldest trees date back to the time Avebury was completed, in the Bronze Age. But new trees are great too, so we're planning to plant 20 million across the nation in the next 10 years.
Why give to the National Trust?
As a charity, we are dedicated to conserving our nation’s natural and human history so that it can be enjoyed for generations to come. Our conservation projects range from preserving the historic buildings in our care to protecting the plants and wildlife found in outdoor spaces. Your donation will allow us to act quickly, wherever the need is greatest at this special place, and do vital conservation work.
