Access for all at Blickling Estate
At Blickling Estate, we strive to provide the facilities to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Whether it's the house, garden or wider estate you're visiting, here's some information to help you plan your day...
Access around the estate
Visit Blickling Estate any day of the week, as the house, garden, cafes, shops and wider estate are open all year round. You'll find ramps, smooth terrain and a multi-use trail for easy access whatever the weather.
Toilets are available at Blickling's Estate Barn, East Wing and Farmyard area.
For further details on the facilities available for an accessible visit including mobility vehicle hire, ramps and parking, please visit the homepage and click on the 'Facilities and Access' button.
Discover the house
Blickling Estate's impressive, red-brick Jacobean mansion is certainly a sight to behold, but also offers more than meets the eye. Unlike many historical houses, Blickling is equipped with ramps and lift access*, so visitors can enjoy seeing the hall's impressive rooms and intriguing collections.
*Although there is lift access in the house and most rooms are accessible to all, please bear in mind that due to the nature of the historical building, there may be some rooms only accessible by stairs.
Explore the garden
With smooth paths throughout the garden and walled garden, you can enjoy seeing centuries of expert planting all year round. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available to hire for use in the garden. We also provide an adapted map for a useful guide to exploring the best bits, whilst avoiding steps and other obstacles.
*Please note that mobility scooters are available on a first-come-first served basis and at busy times, there might be a short wait until one becomes available. Our wheelchairs can be used in the house and garden, but our mobility scooters are for garden use only. Last hire is one hour before closing.
Venture further afield
With over 4,600 acres of stunning parkland to explore at Blickling, highlights include ancient woodland and the Tower that was once used by the 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire as a grandstand.
Our multi use trail through the parkland is an accessible route for all abilities, open all year round. The terrain is suitable for both buggies and adapted wheelchair users, so whatever the weather, this four-mile trail will show you all the highlights of the wider estate.
Collect a map from visitor reception upon arrival and we'll happily help you to discover the best routes to suit you. We also have a range of equipment available from our Cycle Hub, including a long-distance mobility scooter and children's tag-alongs, available to hire daily.
