This June, the car park payment machines will be replaced at Blickling Estate, providing both members and non-members with solutions that are more fit for purpose. Visitors will have the option to use an app, JustPark to scan their membership cards or make a payment.  Two new machines in the main car park will include the ability to pay by contactless.

What do these changes mean for National Trust Members and visitors?

  • Two new machines will be installed in the main car park. They will accept member scans, contactless card payments and will take coins as well.
  • Visitors will also have the option to pay or scan their membership cards via the JustPark app.
  • In car parks where there is no machine, (in the overflow car park, Fisherman’s car park, Bucks Common car park and Woodgate car park), members and paying visitors can use the JustPark app to register their member visit, or make a payment.
  • All visitors will be required to add their registration number to the machines (or app) when they park. We will not use this data for anything other than car park management.
  • Fishing permits can be purchased via the JustPark app at the Fisherman’s car park.
  • We are still asking members to scan at every visit to register your car as parking compliant, either via the machines in the main car park, or via the JustPark app. Both options will mean Blickling Estate receives extra money from general funds to spend on conservation and improvements.

When is this change going to take place?

The change is likely to take place in mid-June 2025.

Why are you replacing the current machines?

This project will replace all the car park machines at the National Trust with solutions that are more fit for purpose. We understand that there’s wide demand for more ways to pay, and the new machines will include the ability to pay by contactless to make it easier for visitors. Payments and membership scans can also be made via the JustPark app.

What is the JustPark app?

The app the Trust is using is JustPark, which operates at over 25 Local Authorities across the UK and has over 13m drivers registered. Find out more about it here: JustPark - The Parking App | Find parking in seconds

Will the JustPark app be available in every car park?

Yes. The app compliments the visitor journey and will be availble in every car park.

What happens if I can't get enough mobile signal to use the app in the Overflow car park, Fisherman's car park, Woodgate car park or the Buck's Common car park?

Once set up, JustPark needs very little signal to process transactions. If you are are unable to get a signal on arrival, you can make a payment when you next have wifi/mobile signal within 24 hours. Please download the app on the App Store or get it on Google Play ahead of your visit.

Will the new machines in the main car park take longer to use, or create longer queues?

We are moving from three machines to two in the main car park, however, with the addition of being able to use the JustPark app as well as a machine to pay/scan membership cards, we believe the new changes will improve the visitor experience.  Please download the app on the App Store or get it on Google Play ahead of your visit.

Do I need a ticket?

We’re moving to a visitor journey which will not print tickets. Not only will this save the cost, effort and paper of replacing ticket rolls, but it enables visitors to start their experience at our places without having to return to their car.

Without a ticket how will you know I’ve paid/scanned?

The machine will ask you to add your registration number so we’ll know you’ve paid from that. We’ll also know if you’ve used the app to pay or check-in with your membership card.

Will I be able to get a receipt of payment?

At the machine you can request an optional receipt if you paid by contactless card.

If a contactless card has reached its limit, how will I pay?

Where there is no pin pad, the card reader should never ask for your PIN and will just take payment.

Will I still need to scan my membership card every time I visit?

We are still asking members to scan at every visit, either via the machines in the main car park, or via the JustPark app. Both options will mean your car is recorded as being parked compliantly, and Blickling Estate receives extra money from general funds to spend on conservation and improvements.

I’ve forgotten my membership card, what can I do?

You can either find a member of staff or check-in using the JustPark app.

What happens if my membership card wont scan?

This process will not change – if staff are present, they can examine card and suggest a course of action. Otherwise members can choose to pay, or call the Supporter Services Centre on 0344 800 1895.

Will parking charges increase to pay for these changes?

Car park tariffs are decided each year by the property to reflect what’s reasonable in that area and for that location. They will not be impacted by this project and the charge of £5 will continue to apply for non-members.

Why aren't there any EV chargers at Blickling Estate?

EV chargers are being managed as part of a different programme and it's something that we are looking into as we know there is a demand for this at Blickling Estate.

I have another question about these changes – who can I contact?
