Join in at Bookham Commons

National Trust volunteers having a tea break

If you love the outdoors and want to help look after our countryside, join our volunteer group, the Bookham Commons volunteers.

Volunteer with us

Volunteering is a great way to make new friends and learn new skills. Our volunteers work, with the ranger team, on a variety of interesting and practical conservation tasks.

If you think you’d like to join us, please e-mail us for more information.

When do our volunteers meet?

The Bookham Commons volunteers meet every Wednesday come rain or shine.

What do I need to bring?

All you need to bring is a packed lunch and wear clothes suitable for working outdoors. If you have a pair of steel toe-cap boots they would be useful.

What sort of tasks will I do?

  • repair fences
  • install gates
  • coppicing
  • pond management
  • scrub management
  • grassland management

Friends of Bookham Commons

The Friends of Bookham Commons work tirelessly to raise funds and help maintain the commons. Over the years, they've provided restful wooden benches, a stunning boardwalk over a marsh and a bird hide on Upper Eastern Pond for you all to enjoy.
