The main course is 32km (20 miles), but an optional extra loop will take more adventurous riders along an additional 16 - 24km (10-15 miles) of magical Mendip terrain. Road cycling at Top of the Gorge festival
Mendips Lakes and Lumps road-cycling challenge, will see riders take on a 43-mile course that climbs through Cheddar Gorge and wends along the lovely lanes that coil around the Mendip Hills and surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The ride takes place on Sunday 14 June, and starts from the entrance to the Top of the Gorge festival site. The course is designed to offer a physical challenge, but with 800 metres of climbing it's also highly enjoyable and accessible to people of varying ability on various bikes.
Riders will set off between 8am and 8.30am and most will finish by late morning/early afternoon, allowing plenty of time to enjoy their free day entry to the festival itself. Family and friends accompanying cyclists will be able to enjoy great food and entertainment at the festival, before cheering returning riders across the finish line.
