Chilterns Countryside Walks

There are plenty of opportunities for some fresh air and exercise following one of our downloadable walks in the Chilterns Countryside. Admire the views at Coombe Hill, Pulpit Hill or Watlington Hill, or explore one of our longer walks. Alternatively, discover the Bradenham Estate or the woodland at Low Scrubs. If you would like to explore less well-known parts of the Chilterns, try one of our walks off the beaten track.

Short Walks in the Chilterns

These are relatively easy walks in the Chiltern Hills, of around 2 miles or less, that you can complete in about an hour or so. They are suitable for anyone looking for a breath of fresh air and an informative introduction to the National Trust’s main Chilterns Countryside locations at Coombe Hill, Watlington Hill, Pulpit Hill and Bradenham.

Moderate Walks in the Chilterns

These family friendly trails in the Chiltern Hill are between 3 and 6 miles long, and are likely to take 2 to 3 hours to complete. They explore some of the most attractive landscapes in the Central Chiltern Hills, revealing some fascinating history and archaeology.

Chequers and Coombe Hill

Longer Walks in the Chilterns

These walks range between 7 and 16 miles long and include some of our most popular routes. They are likely to take 3.5 to 8.0 hours to complete. They are ideal for curious and more experienced walkers looking to explore remote, unspoilt and less well-known parts of the Chilterns Countryside. You might want to bring a packed lunch or to plan a pub lunch where possible.
