Discover the secret rooms used by the servants in the southeast part of the house.

Consistently hidden from public view for centuries, these rooms were opened to visitors for the first time at the end of 2018. Still off the normal house route, book onto one of these special behind the doors tours to see this special hidden corner of the house.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

Please note...

Family tickets admit up to 2 adults, and up to 3 children. Children are ages 5-17 inclusive, those under 5 are free.

Dogs are welcome on the surrounding estate and can use the Mote Cafe terrace, however are not permitted in the gardens from March - October.

Group rates available for 15 or more visitors.

Assistance dogs are welcome.
Accessibility
This tour will start from the central courtyard and is all on the ground floor taking in the East courtyard, scullery, kitchen and dining room. Be aware there are uneven surfaces.
Other
These tours are first come first serve, limited to a maximum of 15 per tour. Timed tickets available on the day for free in the house - collect when you arrive from the conservatory in the courtyard.
