David Brain: Prokofiev, Beethoven, Bach and Ravel

David Brain plays Prokofiev, Beethoven, Bach and Ravel

  • Booking essential

Prokofiev's Sarcasms, a clutch of preludes written in 1913, ushers in the new, futuristic style of gleaming steel and also breathes in the intoxicating atmosphere of late Scriabin. In sharp contrast, Beethoven's A flat Sonata Op.110, reconciles both Baroque and Classical procedures whilst anticipating the lyricism of the Romantic movement. Bach's festive fourth Partita in D major follows, and the programme ends the way it began with another five movement suite in the form of Miroirs.
