NNR Festival: Holt Wood guided walk

Join a National Trust Ranger for a guided walk of Holt Wood.

  • Booking essential
  • Free event (admission applies)

Discover the fascinating history and nature of Holt Wood on this guided walk by a National Trust Ranger. The walk will be just over 1 mile and you will have the opportunity to discover what makes this area special and the work that the National Trust are doing to help nature thrive.

Starting at Holtwood Community Farm, a farm set up to provide day services for adults with mental health problems, Autism and other learning difficulties, the walk will also end there and you will have time to explore the farm and maybe even purchase some local produce from the small shop.

This event is part of the Festival of National Nature Reserves which is a celebration of people and nature, of National Nature Reserves past, present and future. The first National Nature Reserves in England were declared in 1952 and this year Natural England and partners are celebrating 70 years of NNRs, England's most important places for nature. This is part of a series of over 100 local events held from May to October which will be inviting people to discover nature in exciting ways. National Nature Reserves are essential for nature's recovery, and are at the heart of the developing nature recovery network in England.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

*Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

Please note...

Visits to the house are limited and entry to the house is not guaranteed on the day you visit.

If you are visiting Badbury Rings on the wider estate, please note that there is a car parking charge for non members of £1 for one hour or £3 for the day.
