Basic Blacksmithing Courses 2019

An introduction to blacksmithing in Wimpole's own blacksmith shop where you will learn the magic techniques of this old craft and take home the object you make.

The course content includes learning:

how to manage the charcoal fire;

the correct use of Blacksmith tools especially the hammer and anvil;

how to make a ram's head hanging hook;

make a traditional rose head nail for fixing the hook.

And if you're not too tired by then you can make another one!

Meeting point
Meet at The Forge. Please arrive at 9.30am for a prompt 10am start. Tea, coffee and lunch are provided at the Farm Cafe at Home Farm. The forge is very basic, nearest toilets are at Home Farm
What to bring and wear
Wear suitable clothing and boots.
The course is physically demanding so participants must be reasonably fit.
