Discover what it was like to work in a country house. Explore how the house operated from the basements to the private family spaces on the ground and first floors. This is an opportunity to go behind the scenes, tour the attic accommodation and find out more about the work of the National Trust.

Each ticket entitles the bearer to a free cup of tea or filter coffee in the restaurant marquee.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points. Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission or
  • Standard admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you the Gift Aid Admission prices. But it's entirely up to you which ticket you choose. If you want the Standard Admission instead, just let us know when you come to pay.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid* — an extra 25 per cent — potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below: Payment of the additional percentage donation is entirely voluntary, so if you prefer to pay the standard admission please advise our reception staff at the till point.

Main season prices: 3 March - 28 October 2018.

Winter prices: 1 January - 2 March and 29 October - 31 December 2018.

Please note access to the house is via timed entry ticket only. Please see the website for more information.

Basement tours are available every day except Christmas Day. Visitors with a grounds only ticket can purchase a separate ticket for a basement tour from the information point next to the visitor reception building.

Group bookings require a minimum of 15 people. The discount rate applies regardless how many National Trust members are in the group.

The main showrooms close for conservation cleaning from 29 October - 31 December 2018.

Meet at the west door of the Mansion, five minutes before the tour.
What to bring and wear
Don't forget to wrap up warm. Please avoid wearing sharp heels in the mansion to help look after the floors. You may be provided with covers for muddy shoes.
Accessibility
Please be aware that due to the location of the collection, the route of the tour will require climbing two flights of stairs.
