Outdoor theatre: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Brought to you by the acclaimed Lord Chamberlain's Men, enjoy Shakespeare’s enchanting comedy performed by an all-male cast in Elizabethan costume. Bring along your picnics, chairs and blankets ready for a fun-filled evening on the north lawn.

Gates open 5.45pm. Programmes and raffle tickets will be on sale before the performance which runs 7-10pm.

Lovers at war flee to an enchanted forest alive with meddling fairies and sprites. Hoping for their true loves’ course to be set straight, instead they become further entangled and confused as they are caught in the cross fire of a fairy king and queen at odds.

Meanwhile a bumbling group of artisans prepare a play to be presented as part of the Duke’s wedding celebration.

Meeting point
Gates open at 5.45pm. Follow directions from Visitor Reception to North Lawn. The performance runs 7-10pm.
What to bring and wear
Please be aware you'll need to carry your picnic and chairs a 10 minute walk to the north lawn. Don't forget to wrap up warm and bring a torch for the journey back to the car through the gardens.
Accessibility
The north lawn is accessible via hard gravel paths, though the performance is located on the lawn.
Other
Day visitors also attending this event please be aware that, so we can get things ready, you will need to leave site at 5pm and then be readmitted at 5:45pm when the gates open. Under fives go free.
