Rose Festival at Chartwell and Emmetts Garden

Head to Chartwell and Emmetts Garden this summer for a whole month of roses! Join us for our first ever Rose Festival, celebrating this beautiful flower across both properties with events taking place at both sites.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Roses play a key role in the history of Emmetts Garden as well as blooming beautifully every summer in the gardens today. When Frederic Lubbock bought the property in 1893, he had the Rose Garden designed especially for his wife, Catherine Lubbock. This formal garden was a space to call her own and forms the centrepiece of the gardens with views out over the surrounding Weald of Kent.

Join us at Emmetts Garden and nearby Chartwell for a month of celebration with walks, talks, workshops and more going on throughout the end of June and July, as well as marvelling in the rose displays.

Make sure to check out the rest of our 'What's On' section for all the different events. Please note that some events will require advanced booking.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

Please note...

Free entry for National Trust members. Parking is included within admission.
