This 45 minute outdoor guided tour takes in the theatrical architecture of Wray Castle together with its picturesque setting.

You'll hear about how the Dawsons' expressed their ancestry and position through the highly imposing building, and what they did with the surroundings to make their home feel like it'd been there for centuries. The tour will also take in some of the current restoration projects taking place, as well as showing photographs of other estate buildings you might want to walk to after your tour.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

Please note...

If you're not a National Trust (or National Trust for Scotland) member then you'll need to pay for parking.

It's £5 for up to two hours, £6.50 for two to four hours and £7.50 for four hours or more. Payment machines take cash only, but you can pay by card in the castle entrance for parking and admission.

Book your place via the ticket office, on the day. Please note there are limited numbers per tour.
Suitability
Children over 10 are welcome.
Dogs on leads are welcome.
What to bring and wear
Please wear clothing and shoes suitable for the outdoors and the weather that day.
Accessibility
This is an outdoor tour and the route includes stairs, gravel and earthen paths.

Tours may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, so if you are travelling especially for this event, please phone Wray Castle on the day to double check the tour is taking place.
