Garden masterclass - design
Spend a bit of time with one of the gardeners looking at all things design related on Tuesday 5 & 26 July at 11am, 12noon, 1pm and 2pm.
- Booking essential
- Admission applies
As part of a series of free adult masterclasses, spend around half an hour delving a little deeper into the principles of design around the garden. It's a walk and talk, using the plans from award winning landscape architect Andy Sturgeon.
Once you're inspired, head to the stables shop if you need supplies to help your garden grow; from books to gloves, plants to pots and everything in between.
Numbers are limited, the sessions at 12 noon and 1pm are pre-bookable online. The sessions at 11am and 2pm are for visitors to sign up on the day and
will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

What is Gift Aid?
Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.
Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:
- Gift Aid Admission
- Standard Admission
If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.
An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:
|Amount paid by visitor||£11.00||£10.00|
|Tax refund from Government*||£2.75||£0.00|
|Total received by the National Trust||£13.75||£10.00|

The hall and galleries are currently closed for a 2.3 million infrastructure project and due to re-open in summer 2023.
The current price is for access to the gardens, restaurant and shop.
Free entry for National Trust members and under fives.
We also accept a selection of other passes including, but not exclusively, RHS membership, Yorkshire's Great Houses, Castles and Gardens Cards, Max Card and the Visit York Pass.
