Get ready for the festive season with our Christmas food events. By getting involved in our food events you’ll not only enjoy a day out full of the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Christmas, you’ll also be helping us look after special places so they can be enjoyed for many festive seasons to come.

Ickworth, Suffolk 

Greenery Walks

Join the team at Ickworth for a festive walk around the impressive parkland. Along the way you’ll collect a variety of greenery to dress your home for Christmas – including holly and ivy. If your little elves are keen to help decorate, there are children’s craft sessions happening throughout December.

Cooking on a campfire

Hardcastle Crags, Yorkshire

Cook on a campfire, 9 and 16 December , 12pm – 2pm 

Cooking on a campfire is always special, but particularly so at Christmas. Join us for a festive torch-lit walk through the woods, followed by hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows and Father Christmas telling stories around the campfire.

Lyme, Cheshire

Festive Regency Afternoon Tea, Fri-Mon between 24 Nov-24 Dec, 12pm-4pm 

Where better enjoy a festive Regency tea than the house that stood in as Pemberley in the BBC production of 'Pride and Prejudice'? Join us for afternoon tea with a seasonal twist, where you’ll be served a variety of sweet and savoury Christmas delights, perfectly accompanied by a glass of bubbly.

Seasonal baking demonstrations, 10 & 16 Dec, 11am – 3pm 

Winchester City Mill is the oldest watermill in the country that is still used for its original purpose: harnessing the power of the River Itchen to grind wheat into flour. Our volunteer bakers offer regular demonstrations, showing how this traditional flour can be combined with local seasonal ingredients to produce delicious treats for you to sample. Visit on the 26th November for a special ‘Stir up Sunday’ event, where they’ll show you how to make a Christmas pudding.
