Golden Cap Association

Visitors walking on Old Nick's Ground, near Old Harry Rocks, at sunset, in the Purbeck Countryside, Dorset.

Golden Cap Association (West Dorset) was founded in 1978 and has over 550 members. We take our name from the highest cliff on the south coast of England – Golden Cap – which is part of the Jurassic Coast and of outstanding ecological and geological importance.

We support the work of the National Trust and offer activities to make National Trust membership even more enjoyable, such as:

  •     talks
  •     walks
  •     coach visits
  •     quizzes
  •     lunches

Membership is open to all National Trust members and accredited volunteers. We are independent of the National Trust but governed by a constitution common to all the charity's Centres and Associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee elected at our Annual General Meeting held every March.

On Stonebarrow Hill there's a shop which is uniquely staffed purely by volunteers. It's open every day from Good Friday until the end of October.
