Meet Anna McNuff, Girlguiding ambassador
Recently named as the first ever UK Ambassador for the Girlguide movement, Anna McNuff is a former GB rower. These days Anna is a full-time endurance athlete, adventurer and mischief-maker.
Why not discover some of her adventures?
In the last few years Anna has cycled 11000 miles across the US. Pedaling along the spine of the Andes in South America she ascended over 100000 metres.
On two feet Anna traveled New Zealand’s 3,057km Te Araroa trail. Closer to home, she ran along England’s Jurassic Coast dressed as a dinosaur.
In 2014 Anna founded Adventure Queens, a not-for-profit women’s adventure community. It aims to delicately smash down the barriers that women face heading off on adventures.
As a group they provide practical information, tips and advice about embracing the wilderness. Women new to the outdoors are armed with the confidence to go exploring.
A few months ago, Girlguiding appointed her as an ambassador.
“I’m humbled and honoured to be the UK’s first official Ambassador for Girl Guiding, and have some big boots to fill in my role to get young women to think bold and dream big,” says Anna.
“Getting to speak to youngsters at an outdoor festival like Top of the Gorge – where they can put their adventure plans into action right away – is perfect. It’s the ideal setting for them to try new things for the first time – climbing, axe throwing, trail running – and understand they are capable of so much more than they might have realised.”
Anna will be joining us at the inaugural Top of the Gorge festival, why not book your tickets for your chance to hear her inspirational talk?
