People's Postcode Lottery
Since 2013, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped our projects with funding totalling £1.475 million. We say a massive thank you to all players for supporting our mission to look after special places for ever, for everyone.
This year’s support includes a generous award of £750k which has enabled us to embark on ambitious plans to develop 60 hectares of lowland heath and wood pasture in a new conservation project for 2018 to protect the future of the High Brown Fritillary – the UK’s most endangered butterfly.
In addition we've also recieved funding of £300,000 from players to support the delivery of the Heritage Open Days festival in 2017. Players of People’s Postcode Lottery’s support for the festival amounts to an incredible £825,000 since 2015. Since then, the festival has gone from strength to strength, with over 40,000 organisers and volunteers opening more heritage sites and offering more free events and activities than ever before.
Heritage Open Days invites everyone to enjoy free access to England's architecture and culture for four days every September, celebrating the value of local heritage and green spaces. 2018 will be the fourth year that players have helped thousands of sites across the country – not just National Trust places – to open their doors and put on activities, celebrating the spirit of these wonderful places within their local communities.
" We are thrilled to be able to continue supporting Heritage Open Days in 2018, and particularly to see players’ support enabling the return of Unsung Stories, a ground-breaking arts programme that will explore local stories of extraordinary women across England."
Clara Govier, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said, ‘We are thrilled that funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery to the National Trust has increased in 2018, supporting the charity’s nature programme for the first time, alongside continued support for Heritage Open Days. We are delighted to see players’ funding supporting significant conservation activity across England and Wales to improve a range of priority habitats, from coastal slopes and chalk grasslands, to woodland pasture, and to safeguard species that call these places home.’
Supporting good causes
Players’ support for Heritage Open Days 2017 enabled three million people from across Great Britain to discover local cultural and historical treasures, many for the very first time.
About People's Postcode Lottery
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £235 million for good causes. Players pay £10 for 10 draws paid monthly in advance with a minimum of 31% going to good causes.
We are one of the People’s Postcode Lottery's 70 ‘supported charities’. People’s Postcode Lottery makes additional grants of under £20,000 to other charities upon application. They aim to raise funds and awareness for good causes, allowing their supported charities to focus on their work.
How it works
When you sign up, your postcode is entered into the daily draw, meaning you have the chance to win a prize every day. Over 20,000 postcodes win prizes every week.
If your postcode is drawn, you win a set amount per ticket: Sunday prizes can be of £10, £20, £50 and £100, Monday – Friday prizes of £1,000. Saturday winners can receive prizes of £25,000.
Once a month, there is a £3 million prize pot. This prize is different to the others; it’s shared between all the players in one lucky postcode sector.
Once registered you are automatically entered every month, into every draw, for every prize.
People's Postcode Lottery manages multiple society lotteries promoted by different charities supporting a range of good causes.
