The Quantock Centre is among the most active local groups in the South West of England, and we take a special interest in Barrington Court, near Ilminster, the first large house purchased by the Trust.
Nearby are two other 'firsts': Coleridge Cottage, Nether Stowey, the first Trust-owned house associated with a famous person; and Montacute House, near Yeovil, the first large house given to the Trust.
We visit houses and gardens in other parts of the country, places belonging not only to the National Trust but to other public and private owners, some of them rarely opened to the public.
Members also enjoy a wide variety of other activities, including talks, music, art and social events.
