Risemoor, Alnwick, Northumberland
This cosy coastal hideaway was once a pub, so has seen many people pass through its doors over the centuries.
Decorated with a nod to its seaside surroundings, the cosy inside works to keep guests cool in the summer and warm at winter.
The house is also next door to Newton Pool Nature Reserve, a freshwater lagoon which attracts a variety of wildlife which can be viewed from the bird hides. Early autumn is a good time to see migratory birds departing and grey seals out at sea, while the terns and swallows return in May.
