Somerset NTV Group

Visitors and volunteer in the Great Hall at Lytes Cary Manor, Somerset.

The Somerset NTV Group formed in 1993 to give our free time to help the National Trust wardens and head gardeners who look after some of the most beautiful areas in Somerset.

Where do we volunteer?

Somerset NTV Group volunteers can often be found at:
  • Quantock Hills
  • Blackdown and Mendip Hills
  • Montacute House
  • Barrington Court
  • Lytes Cary Manor
  • Dunster Castle
  • Tyntesfield
All of these places require continual management and maintenance.

What we do

Our members come from a variety of backgrounds and all of them enjoy working as a team, outdoors in the clean country air.
We arrange task days twice each month, and the work we do is varied. Footpath repairs, hedge laying, scrub clearance, tree planting, dry stone walling, apple orchard pruning and cider-making are typical of the tasks we do. We have even painted a cannon! There is usually something to suit all ages and abilities.
