Rural skills and crafts fair
As the leaves begin to turn, we're looking towards the harvest - a busy and very important time for the foundry in the past. As a factory producing edge tools for the farming industry, it relied on these busy times of year for survival.
The Rural skills and crafts fair on Sunday 3 September celebrates this.
Set against the backdrop of Dartmoor, in the tranquil garden at the back of the foundry, this event will showcase the skills and crafts of Devon artisans. To give you an idea, you'll be able to see
- a scything demonstration by the UK champion
- water divining
- honey and an observation bee hive
- pole lathe
- displays of old tools and rope making
- basket making
- skep and straw rope maker
- apple juice making
- wood turning
Along with a few local crafts,Cogs and Wheel Morris dancers, Andy, our local blacksmith working in the forge and children's activities, it should be a fun day for all the family.
