Frensham Little Pond has a new telescope

We’ve recently installed a new telescope for you to check out the wildlife on our pond.

In the bird hide, near our café, you can now peek through a telescope and spot the birds on the water or in the reed-beds.

Bird spotting chart

There’s a handy ‘bird spotter’s chart’ on the hide’s wall too for you to check what you’ve seen. Have fun a bit of fun and score your sightings according to the rarity of the bird species.

Look our for our terns

You can also watch the common terns swooping overhead, diving for fish, or nesting on one of the two rafts provided for them to help establish a breeding colony at the Little Pond. Last year on one of the rafts the terns successfully hatched and flew the nest; the first time that this has happened since the rafts were installed in 2013.

We hope that you enjoy using our new bird hide and telescope. It’s a great way of getting the kids interested in wildlife and of course adults too. Could be the start of a new hobby...

Munch a snack at the Tern Café and spot the birds on the pond.

Don’t forget to let us know of any rare sightings.
