Perched on the banks of the River Yeo this cosy cottage is surrounded by dog walking country. The nearby Arlington estate is crisscrossed with trails and a gentle three-mile stroll will take you to Arlington Court. If you really want to stretch the legs of your four-legged friend the Tarka Trail offers over 30 miles of traffic-free cycling.

Setting off from The Lodge you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to walkies. On the edge of the Park estate and with Dartmoor beyond, this cute little cottage makes the perfect base from which to explore. Head to Lustleigh and chase sticks in the woodland, follow the river to Teignmouth or head for dog-friendly Maidencombe beach.

Situated on the edge of the vast Arlington estate, you and your dog can have the run of the place and enjoy the miles of walking trails. The cottage has been recently refurbished and you can now thaw your paws on the bathroom’s under-floor heating.

The recently refurbished cottage sleeps four, with number 2 next door also catering for a quartet. Each cottage can take a dog each but with the Coast Path on the doorsteps they’ll be dragging you seawards in no time.

With the 650-acre estate on your doorstep there’s no shortage of trails to follow. Beyond the boundaries of Buckland lie Dartmoor to the east and the Tamar Valley to the west, so those muddy paws will be in their element.

This Grade II listed cottage sits right by the foot ferry crossing, taking you from your door to nearby Dartmouth, Totnes or the Ferry Boat Inn on the opposite bank. Alternatively follow the river, and while your companion bounds ahead look out for the occasional bottlenose dolphin or grey seal.
