This neat-looking building is one of three former officer’s quarters on St Anthony Head, which looks over the sea on the Roseland peninsula. They were preserved when the National Trust took over the care of St Anthony Head in 1959, and you can explore the history of the former military fortification site during your stay. The defences were built to protect against invasion, from Napoleonic times up to World War Two, and you can book onto a tour to explore them.

The Major's Quarter has some wheelchair access, with adapted interiors and an accessible tarmac path that leads to a view point overlooking St Mawes, Falmouth and the Carrick Roads. It's a great spot for a picnic. There are many walking trails in the area - the St Anthony Head circular walk is a good place to start for a short, circular walk with dramatic scenery. To visit the beach, head to nearby Great Molunan and Little Molunan; the Roseland peninsula is an unspoilt landscape of cliffs, creeks, woods and beaches. Wildlife thrives in the area's many quiet spots - ponies who graze to support a healthy balance of plants, and down at sea level, the common seals who like to visit Gulf Rock. Look out for peregrine falcons from the bird hide tucked away near the ramparts.

The Major’s Quarter is joined to The Captain’s Quarter (sleeps two) and The Lieutenant’s Quarter (sleeps two), and next to Tiffy's (sleeps two). The money you spend on your holiday helps maintain and preserve this special site.
