About Peppercombe Bothy

Comfortably sleeping up to four guests, Peppercombe Bothy is a very basic stone dwelling benefiting from wonderful views to Bideford Bay and close proximity to the famous South West Coast Path.

Perfect for a group of friends looking for somewhere to get away from it all for the weekend, the bothy is ideally placed for a walking holiday. With just a handful of neighbours, the only thing keeping you awake at night will be the sound of owls hooting in the trees and foxes rustling in the bushes.

Follow a meandering path down to the secluded Peppercombe Beach. With its wealth of rock pools and fishing spots, you’ll love exploring this beautiful stretch of the North Devon shoreline.

Just a short drive along the coast and you’ll arrive at Clovelly. This famous old fishing village with its steep cobbled high street leading down to the harbour is home to a range of local shops, pretty cafés and tea rooms and traditional pubs.

More information

Acorn Rating: Please note, that while bothies and bunkhouses show a 1 Acorn rating on this site, facilities are more limited. A bothy offers a ‘camping with walls’ experience, usually with no electricity or running water.

Access: The accessibility guide is for guidance only. For up-to-date information, please call the team on 0344 800 2070.

Heating: No heating provided.

Bedding/linen: No linen provided.

Water: The water at Peppercombe bothy is safe to drink as it is from the mains.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of two cars just off the lane on the uneven track leading up to the bothy.

Electricity: There is no electricity or lighting in the bothy.

Garden: The garden surrounds the bothy and opens out into surrounding woods. The immediate area in front of the bothy has short grass so you can sit out or play. Elsewhere, the ground is uneven and the grass is wild and long.

Hazards: Due to the remote location of this bothy, access is via a very rough track approximately half a mile long. Please drive very slowly and with great care at all times. Low slung vehicles should exercise particular care.

Dog owners should be aware that there is no enclosed garden at the bothy.

Please note: In keeping with the ethos of a bothy stay, we ask our guests to leave the bothy in a clean and tidy condition for the next guests. Thank you.
