Housed in a traditional stone barn, Edgcumbe is located in the little hamlet of Penare. The sitting room of this tranquil cottage is on the first floor, to maximise countryside views, while the bedrooms are downstairs.

In just a few minute's walk, you can join up with the South West Coast Path for some of the best rambling in the country. Dodman Point, the highest point in South Cornwall and a haven for birdwatchers, is nearby. It has spectacular views and you might even see Dartmoor ponies. For lazy beach days, Vault and Hemmick beaches are in walking distance, and Gorran Haven, an unspoilt fishing village with a secluded cove, has two more.

You'll have free entry to National Trust places during your stay, including the grand houses, gardens and parklands of Trerice, Trelissick and Lanhydrock, which are all within an hour's drive of the cottage.

There are three other holiday cottages in the area, which can be booked together for a group. Edgcumbe is adjoined to Bodrugan (sleeps three), and Granny's (sleeps two) is also in Penare. Hemmick Cottage (sleeps four) is next to Hemmick beach.
