A rustic bothy for those who want to spend more time exploring the fells, tarns and peaks of the Lake District.
Watendlath Bothy sits next to the tarn in the peaceful hamlet it shares its name with. You’ll be high in the valley with unparalleled views of the surrounding fells.
Inside offers basic accommodation, with a few added comforts including the log-burner. There’s enough room to sleep six, you’ll just need to bring your own sleeping bags and ‘camping’ equipment.
Find lots of walking trails around the lake in Watendlath. Not too far north is the Lodore Falls and larger lake, Derwent Water.
Preferred changeover days are Friday or Monday.
Open-plan kitchen/living/sleeping area with wood-burning stove, bunks, table with chairs, a basic fridge and a normal size four ring electric cooker. There is a shower room with hot water and a separate toilet.
Acorn Rating: Please note, that while bothies and bunkhouses show a 1 Acorn rating on this site, facilities are more limited. A bothy offers a ‘camping with walls’ experience, usually with no electricity or running water.
Access: For up-to-date information, please call the team on 0344 800 2070.
Heating: Wood burning stove – logs are not provided. Guests are advised to bring their own supplies.
Linen: No linen is provided.
Parking: There is parking for two cars outside the bothy.
Please note: You'll need to bring your own sleeping bags and mats.
Please note: In keeping with the ethos of a bothy stay, we ask our guests to leave the bothy in a clean and tidy condition for the next guests. Thank you.
