Porth Mear Barn was built in the 19th century at the heart of working farmland. Animals still graze in the surrounding fields, but the Barn is now a warm and comfortable holiday cottage on two levels with walks from the doorstep and a distant view of the sea. You’ll be able to follow a path down to Porth Mear, a secluded cove only accessible on foot.

The front door opens into an open-plan living and dining area with a log burner laid for your arrival. The kitchen leads to the downstairs family bathroom with both shower and bath. Upstairs you’ll find a shower room and 3 double bedrooms: two are king size, and one can be a twin on request. There’s plenty of room to run around in the open outdoor space, which has picnic benches and a small barbecue. The laundry and drying room is reached by an external door.

There’s no street lighting here so you’ll enjoy dark nights and with an exposed setting, you’ll experience the drama of the weather and the seasons. For a sandy beach, head to Porthcothan just a mile away. There are walks to Carnewas for the Bedruthan steps, Mawgan Porth and Newquay in one direction, and Padstow in the other. Their beaches are within a 15-minute drive.

Skipper’s Cabin, a holiday cottage for 2 guests, is 30m away, and Porth Mear Cottage for 4 and Trescore for 3 are at the end of the track.

Ground floor layout

Front door opens into an open plan living/dining area and then into a kitchen with breakfast bar. From the kitchen a small lobby leads into the downstairs family bathroom with large shower and feature bath. Stairs from the living/dining area lead to the upstairs landing.

Second floor layout

From the landing, to the right there is a shower room with WC and handbasin, to the left a corridor leads to three double bedrooms, each sleeping two people. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have king size beds. Bedroom 3 has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be made up as two single beds.

Heating: The cottage is heated by radiators and a log burner.

Parking: There is parking for up to 3 vehicles immediately outside cottage.

Garden: The outside space is not enclosed. There is a garden table, six chairs and a bench and a small BBQ.
