About Porthdy Wiwer Goch
A quirky, period cottage on the Plas Newydd Estate.Located at the entrance to the enchanting mansion and gardens of Plas Newydd, near the shores of the Menai Strait, this family-friendly cottage is ideally placed for exploring North Wales. Inside, the cottage is cosy and characterful, with bay windows, a log burner and the original quarry tile floor in the sitting room.
As a guest, you can enjoy free access to Plas Newydd mansion house with its woodland walks, sheltered gardens and Australasian arboretum. There's lots of space for kids to run around and they'll love to play in the treehouse and adventure playground. The mansion house is bursting with historical artefacts to discover so there's plenty to keep grown-ups entertained too.
If you set out for a walk along the Menai Strait, keep an eye out for signs of wildlife. Oystercatchers, cormorants and curlews are just a few of the birds commonly seen in the shallows and you may even see a seal as it feeds in the Strait. Further afield, you could visit the family-friendly beach at Newborough, less than 30 minutes' drive away, or head to the world-famous Zip World at Penrhyn Quarry to brave the 500ft zip line.
