About Rowthorne Lodge

A restored gate lodge for two with luxury interiors, set within the Hardwick Hall estate.

As a former gatehouse, Rowthorne Lodge sits in a romantically secluded location on the edge of the Hardwick estate. The one-bedroom cottage is the perfect couple’s retreat with each room tastefully furnished for a comfortable stay with added luxury. It benefits from sweeping views of the surrounding countryside too.

As a guest of the cottage you’re invited to explore the rest of the estate, free of charge. Just pick up a map and explore its 2,500 acres of parkland, woodland, wetland and farmland. You can also head into the main house, which once housed the formidable ‘Bess of Hardwick'.

Beyond the estate walls, visit Sherwood Forest just a 20 mile drive from the cottage. Spend the day wandering through this ancient woodland made famous by the legend of Robin Hood and his merry men.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
