About 1 Strode House

The building in which 1 Strode House is located was originally a stable block. Standing alongside Barrington Court, a stunning Tudor manor completed in 1550, the house enjoys views over an Arts and Craft garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll. Inside you’ll find a luxurious interior that retains much of its original character, the highlight being the sitting room with its stone fireplace, wood flooring and tall ceilings.

Take advantage of free entry to Barrington Court’s manor house and formal gardens during opening hours. You’ll also be able to explore the wider estate when visitors have gone home. Your stay at 1 Strode House will help us continue to look after this great estate and many others like it in our care.

Located in the heart of Somerset, the house is surrounded by countryside with miles of walking routes. The nearby properties of Montacute House, Lytes Cary and Tintinhull gardens are on your doorstep too. The ham-stone village of Barrington is just a five minute walk, where you can stop for a classic pub lunch in its cosy country pub.
