About West House
A converted comfortable house, with sweeping views over the Cornish coast and countryside. You’ll love the sea views from this handsome semi-detached farmhouse, with BBQ and picnic benches positioned to soak up the scenery after a day exploring the coast. Inside, the comfortable and well-proportioned house has the same views from the sitting/dining room and two of the three bedrooms (so you may need to choose who gets which one carefully).
West House and adjoining Old House make up this old farmhouse, now converted into two holiday cottages in the tiny hamlet of Lansallos Barton. A short walk away from Lansallos Cove, West House has an enclosed garden, great for watching the sun set. With three bedrooms and sleeping six, it’s also great for small family groups or friends getting together to explore the South West Coast Path. Outside, the sea view from the garden with its picnic table is great for relaxing after a day on the beach, and up to two dogs can enjoy a holiday too.
Halfway between Polruan and Polperro, you’ll find Lansallos Barton and this comfortable holiday retreat. From the cottage, it’s just a short walk down to Lansallos Cove, through the atmospheric tree-lined sunken lane, originally a cart track used by fishermen and smugglers for transporting fish, seaweed and contraband up into the village. Once you’re at the cove, you can pick up the coast path and then link into a whole network of footpaths and walking trails, great for walkers and wildlife lovers.
Whether you’re looking for walks or beautiful beaches, this magnificent stretch of coastline is still largely unspoilt. To the west you can take in the magnificent bays at Lantivet and Lantic and to the east there’s pretty Talland Bay, once a well-known spot for smugglers to land. Nearby you’ll also find the quaint old fishing village of Polperro, and busier harbour town of Looe with its pleasant beach. Travel west to take in the magnificent headland at Pencarrow before discovering the village of Polruan, where you can cross over by passenger ferry to the bustling town of Fowey.
