About Walling and woodlandsLearn the art of dry-stone walling with instruction from experienced rangers.
Spend a couple of days helping us to repair and restore the historic boundaries and learning traditional walling techniques on the Meirionnydd properties. You will be working in some of the most important woodlands in Europe for bryophytes and lichens, and on some of the National Trust's oldest properties. For the remainder of the week we move on to the Ysbyty Estate carrying out a variety of woodland tasks to improve habitats for wildlife, from woodland clearance and brashing to thinning out newly planted plots.
About the accommodation
Set in a peaceful part of Snowdonia, this 400-year-old converted barn sleeps 17 in two dormitories over two floors. The stone and slate construction has retained much of its original charm and there is also a barbecue area and picnic table to enjoy the location on the Ysbyty Estate.
