Looking for a New Year challenge? There are lots of ways to get active with us in Yorkshire this January. For a breath of fresh air and some gentle exercise, come for a walk on a crisp winter's day. if you're looking for something a little more active, join a weekly parkrun or one of two Night Runs happening this month.

New Year Night Run at Fountains Abbey 

If you're a keen runner looking for a challenge, then come for a Night Run through Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal on Tuesday 9 January. It's a unique opportunity to run this floodlit route, but don't forget your head torch.

Night Run through Nostell's parkland 

Nostell's Night Run returns with a brand new route for 2018 on Saturday 20 January. Held in partnership with Cotswold Outdoor, choose from the Explorer route (3km) or the Adventurer Route (7km). If you're coming along to offer support, the cafe will be open pre and post run too.

Bring your bike to Nostell 

Head out on your bike along Nostell's new 4km woodland cycle trail. Open since the summer, the cycle trail follows a figure of eight and is ideal for kids with new bikes for Christmas or leisure riders looking for some gentle exercise.

Join a parkrun 

If you're looking for a new challenge for the new year, try a parkrun at Nostell or Fountains Abbey. Once you've registered with parkrun, come and walk or run the 5km course, which takes place every Saturday morning.
