Spaces to play

Children playing on wooden balance beams

There are lots of spaces in the garden to play, have fun, and explore as a family.

New natural play area NOW OPEN.

July 2019: over the last few weeks our garden team have been busy with an army of volunteers, and some experts from Green Play Project, creating a new play space at the top of the garden.

There are lots of logs - for balancing and for seating, balance beams, seats and log tables to play noughts and crosses on, log towers, and even a tractor and a digger made out of logs.

All the wood used came from trees that were recently felled in the garden - tree management as part of our plan to restore the garden to how it was in creator Ralph Allen's day.

We hope you enjoy this new space.

The Musical Playground

Situated next to the Summerhouse, the Musical Playground is a space to explore and get creative. Find out more about the space on the link below.

'50 things to do before you're 11¾' activity cards

For activities to keep everyone occupied on a walk around the garden, why not pick up a '50 things' activity card from reception. There are a selection of themes to choose from, and we'll be adding more for each new season.
