Christmas comes to Stourhead

The music room in Stourhead House dressed for Christmas

See the family home decorated beautifully for the 2018 festive season, or wrap up warm and enjoy a stroll through the garden and see the foundations and the beauty of Stourhead.

More of Stourhead has been decorated than ever, with festive decorations across the whole property, welcoming you from as soon as you step into visitor reception. There’s 20 trees which are beautifully decorated across the property, over 50 wreaths to adorn doors and swags to help lead you on your journey around Stourhead.

On arrival in the house, you will be welcomed with a roaring log fire, and once warm you can explore the decorated showrooms of the family home, each with their own traditional theme reflecting the Hoarefamily who lived at Stourhead for generations. Throughout the house you will find handmade decorations and wonderful floral arrangements, created for you by our talented volunteers.

A walk around the winter garden offers tranquillity and festive cheer, with many of the garden buildings adorned with wreaths and festive decorations. In the winter, the foundations of the garden are laid bare, and it offers a glimpse at how this world-famous landscape garden was created.
