Activities for families at Trerice

Family group at Trerice

From enjoying some fresh air whilst exploring the terraced garden, to discovering something new in the house, there are lots of activities for families to create their own adventures at Trerice. Whether it's rain or sunshine there's something for everyone to learn and enjoy throughout the year.

The house

When Trerice first opened to visitors only two rooms were shown. The  Great hall and its upstairs companion the Great chamber both have magnificent windows and ceilings.

Costume days in 2017

Since 2010 Trerice Costume Group have been busy making outfits inspired by Tudor portraits for visitors to try on.  Check out the What's on page for the next costume day.

The great indoors

Friendly volunteer room guides are here to share stories of Trerice and help families learn about life in the house.
Children's information sheets are available to highlight the interesting bits in each room
Some of the highlights include:
  • The 576 glass panes in the Great hall window.
  • The craftman's mistake in the Great chamber overmantel
  • Rebuilding of the North wing

Family fun outdoors

With lush lawns to roll around on and many different levels to explore, there's space to feel free around the garden at Trerice. Here are just a few things you can enjoy:
  • Traditional outdoor games to play
  • Bugs, butterflies and birds to spot around the garden
  • Lots of places to run around, especially the small turf maze and parade ground
