Inspired by Lanhydrock’s ceramic and botanical collections, renowned artist Hitomi Hosono has created 10 new pieces which will go on display this autumn. Hitomi’s crisp, detailed botanical work, created in her signature white porcelain, will sit amongst Lanhydrock’s existing ceramic collection.

Inspired by Lanhydrock: ceramics, botany, artists is an exciting collaboration with artist Hitomi Hosono. Visit this new exhibition to see Hitomi’s Lanhydrock-inspired ceramics on display amongst the high-Victorian interiors. Delve into the methods and materials to learn the story behind the creation of these exquisite works in porcelain.
Who is Hitomi Hosono?
Hitomi Hosono is an internationally-renowned artist whose detailed white porcelain vessels reference the natural world and botanical specimens. Hitomi’s work captivates with its delicacy and has attracted the patronage of many major public collections including the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.
Why Lanhydrock?
For centuries Lanhydrock has been a source of beauty and inspiration; the delicate plasterwork ceilings and welcoming interiors, the lush, green parkland and dappled woodland walks and the riotous colour in the garden changing throughout the seasons. Over the past two years, both the house and garden collections have inspired Hitomi Hosono to create new ceramic artworks which will go on display this autumn. This is a unique opportunity to see stunning contemporary pieces inspired by Lanhydrock amongst the existing historic collection.

When will Inspired by Lanhydrock be on?
Inspired by Lanhydrock: ceramics, botany, artists with artist, Hitomi Hosono will run from 1 September 2023 to 31 October 2023 along the Lanhydrock Mansion route.
Is there a charge?
Normal admission charges apply, which can be found on our homepage here. Entry and parking are free for members.
Can we see which collections inspired Hitomi?
The Lanhydrock ceramic collection, collected by the Agar-Robartes family over the years, will be displayed along the Mansion route alongside Hitomi's new artworks. There will be an outdoor trail available to download which highlights some of the magnolias, rhododendrons and other elements of Lanhydrock's botanical collection from Bodmin Parkway station, through the estate and garden.
