Archaeological finds revealed, part of Festival of Archaeology
What did the University of Exeter's archaeology department discover in a recent dig in at Columbjohn on the Killerton estate?
- Booking not needed
- Free event
For three weeks in May and June, a team from the University of Exeter archaeology department, supported by National Trust volunteers, conducted excavations and surveys at Columbjohn. This is the site of the Tudor manor house that was home to the Acland family during the English civil war (1642-49). What did they find? Come along to talk to Archaeologist, Dr Susan Greaney and some of the students and volunteers about their discoveries. There will be a chance to see some of the star finds, a hands-on activity and a first look at the geophysical survey results. You can also ask the team about their plans for next year. This event is part of the British Council of Archaeology's annual festival of archaeology
