Summer activities at Comer Woods

Come out and Play!

We know you had such a good time with last year's Summer of Play, that we are starting early this year. From May half term, play activities will be available in Heath Meadow, help yourself to the contents of the play box or come along to one of our active play sessions.

Bring the whole family along and seek out places to play and relax. Challenge friends and family to a game or bring a football and have a kickabout in the meadow.

A selection of games are available to borrow, we just ask you to keep the games tidy and return them once you're finished.

Family Nature Walk

Look out for our bookable guided family nature walks on the last Sunday of each month throughout summer. Equipped with a nature kit-bag which includes items such as bug jars, mini nets, binoculars and nature identification cards, follow our trusted guide on an exploratory trail around the woods.

Don't worry about getting lost, we'll look after you. Book a ticket for each member of your family, please note that children must be accompanied by an adult on this walk.

Toddler Walk

Bring along your little ones and spend time exploring together. Meet up with friends or make new ones as you are led on a gentle walk through the woods by our friendly guide.

Watch your little one wonder at nature as they pick up pine cones, examine catkins or notice a squirrel dart across the path. There will be plenty of opportunities for climbing, exploring and playing.

Remember to book a ticket for each member of your family/group.

Pack a Picnic

Whether you’re catching up with friends or spending time with family, there’s no simpler joy than sharing a picnic in the great outdoors. Borrow a blanket and settle in for a relaxing moment whilst the children play. Look out for birds and wildlife near the pools and notice seasonal changes of the woodland plants.

Cycling in Comer Woods

With miles of paths and trails, Comer Woods is a great place to set off on a family bike ride. Bring your bikes along and try out the 3.5km Explorer trail, it's a great way to take in the woodland at your own pace. There are some steep ascents along the way but plenty of places to pause and take a breather. Bike racks are available near the toilets and cafe in Heath Meadow.

Refuel at The Cafe in Comer Woods

Find The Cafe in Comer Woods near the barn in Heath Meadow. It's perfect for families and dog walkers who want to pick up something on the go. Check opening times here before you visit.

Toilets in Comer Woods are open every day. You'll find them in Heath Meadow, close to the cafe.
