About the Festival of Archaeology

The Festival of Archaeology is the biggest archaeological celebration in the UK. Whether you’re an archaeological amateur or the next Indiana Jones, there are plenty of opportunities to discover more about history at the places in our care. This year, we're hosting a variety of events including an archaeology treasure hunt at the Weir Garden in Herefordshire, a rare coin display at Chedworth Roman Villa in Gloucestershire and a family fun day at Carding Mill Valley in Shropshire. The festival is organised by the Council for British Archaeology.

    Archaeological work

We look after many rich and diverse archaeological sites. Archaeology helps us to learn more about them and protect them for the future.
