Mill walks and talks
Following on from last years very popular Mill Walks and Talks series, we are delighted to welcome back Sebastian Graham of Mills of Northern Ireland to Wellbrook Beetling Mill, located near Cookstown in Co. Tyrone.
Sebastian Graham, of Mills of Northern Ireland, will be delivering a talk in June, July, August and September. Each month will have a different theme involving a short talk plus activity.
Sophie Atkinson, Area Ranger for Springhill and Wellbrook will then take visitors for a tour around the river and you can see the seasonal highlights that make Wellbrook unique.
6 June @ 6.30pm
Sebastian will talk about flax in Ulster, it's history, importance and its uses. Visitors will take part in sowing flax at Wellbrook and get involved in the process.

Hear about scutching mills and scutchers in Cookstown. Visitors will be able to try their hand at scutching, hackling and spinning, and will receive a small bundle of flax fibre to keep and bring to next talk about spinning
29 August @ 6.30pm
Explore Wellbrooks position in the Linen Industry, its unique connection to Cookstown and other towns. Try your hand at natural dye and rush band making. Visitors will be able to dye their string that was spun at Wellbrook and will also be shown how to tie a rush band ready for the flax pulling.
5 September @ 6.30pm
Have a go at pulling flax, rippling (taking seeds off) and the retting process at Wellbrook. A fun final evening with Sebastian and Sophie. Check our facebook page for more updates.
