Winter walks on Wenlock Edge

Wenlock Edge in snow

We have 7 circular routes starting from our 3 car parks at Much Wenlock, Presthope and Wilderhope which are all wonderful walks throughout the year but have a special charm in winter.

In winter with the leaves off the trees the lovely expansive views from Wenlock Edge looking out at the Shropshire countryside are even more impressive and the clues to the Edge’s historical past show up more clearly.

The Jenny Wind walk boasts both stunning views, including one called Granham’s mount which looks back towards the Edge, and a variety of interesting archaeological features, including lime kilns, boundary stones and the Jenny Wind itself – an inclined plane put in place by Thomas Telford in the early 19th century.
